How to apply

To take part in the Noise Insulation Program, landowners must apply.

Being located within the program eligibility area does not automatically mean a property is eligible for noise treatment works. All applications are assessed against the Program Guidelines.

Participation in the program is voluntary at all stages.

Before you apply

The Noise Insulation Program applies only to properties located within the program eligibility area.

You may wish to:

  • use the Check eligibility tool to search for your property by address, or
  • review the eligibility area maps to better understand whether your property may be within the eligibility area.

Being located within the eligibility area does not guarantee eligibility for noise treatment works. Additional eligibility requirements must also be satisfied, such as state or local land planning requirements and building approvals, and building occupancy and accessibility.

Online - Check eligibility and apply online

What happens after you apply

After you submit an application, the managing contractor, Master Building Solutions, will contact you to arrange any additional information or documentation needed to progress your application. This will include:

  • confirming property and ownership details
  • requesting supporting documentation
  • completing identity verification

You may be contacted by email, phone, or through a face‑to‑face meeting, depending on what is required. Once the necessary information has been provided, your application will be assessed by the department in accordance with the eligibility requirements set out in the Program Guidelines.

Being contacted as part of this process does not guarantee approval for noise treatment works.

After application assessment

If your application is approved:

  • your property will be assessed by acoustic and building specialists
  •  a tailored Noise Treatment Plan will be developed
  • no works will proceed without your agreement

Because the program covers a large number of properties across the eligibility area, there may be a period of time between application approval and the commencement of acoustic assessments. Properties are scheduled and assessed as part of the overall program delivery.

If your application is not approved, you will be advised in writing.
